Volunteering is a great way to contribute to our community.

Jannean Dean: Politics, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Fraser Coast, QLD

By volunteering as an election day poll worker, you’re helping ensure our region’s elections are conducted fairly and efficiently. You’ll also get to know folks from your community better.

I would truly welcome your support at prepoll in either Hervey Bay or Maryborough commencing Monday 23rd April and one of the 27 polling booths on Saturday 5th May across the Fraser Coast.

To get started on becoming an election day volunteer either at a polling booth or as a scrutineer, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Note: Scrutineers will need to complete and sign a form.

I am completely self-funded and have not accepted any money nor gifts of any kind.

We’re in this TOGETHER!

FCRC to conduct 2 polls

If you are not one of the 9% who only care if your water runs, toilet flushes and the lights come on and you wish to be heard on these 2 contentious issues; please sign, like  and share.

Fraser Coast Regional Council conduct 2 polls to gauge exactly what the community wants:

1.  Referendum to put in abeyance the development of the Hervey Bay sports precinct and stop all further development of the above until the people have had their say.
2.  Referendum on the separation of the Maryborough Region (Tiaro, Woocoo shires) from Hervey Bay.

Food 4 Seasons

It was my pleasure to personally deliver a bar mix, magic bullet, bowls and tea towels to Food 4 Seasons today with Jeanette Maynes.

Food 4 Seasons_14_04_16

Food 4 Seasons is running two programs from the Urangan Community Centre and has been running since January 2014.

It was identified that there was a need for food programs in the Urangan area, particularly for those in need and doing it tough even though. They currently run 2 programs, Food 4 Seasons and Food 4 Seasons Breakfast

Can I get some volunteers please

I cannot do this without your support.

I am funding my own campaign!

Campaigns are expensive and resource intensive but you can participate at a range of levels. It could be as simple as:
** placing a corflute sign on your property
** manning a polling booth
** volunteering to be a be a scrutineer on Election Day

If you would like to support me in being your representative please send me a message, email or give me a call 0437 912 212.

Fraser Island Dingoes heading for extinction

Fraser Island Dingo

Dingoes were once common on the island, but are now decreasing. The Fraser Island dingoes are reputedly some of the last remaining pure dingoes in Eastern Australia.

As of January 2008, the number of dingoes on the island was estimated to be 120 to 150, and sightings have become less common.

In late 2009, 70% of the dingo population, was then estimated at between 100 and 120 animals and malnourished.

As of today, the number of dingoes has rapidly declined with only an estimated 30 dingoes on the island.

Let’s hope the new Minister Hon Dr Steven Miles (Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection and Minister for National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef) does something about this ASAP.

JANUARY 19TH, 2015

Time for education from a young age to be introduced into the Diabetes Type 2 epidemic, so by the time they read adult hood they have made good choices and nutrition becomes a way of life. Fast food advertising needs to be limited so the minds of everyone are not bombarded with images that will have a detrimental affect on the health and well being.
