Wide Bay candidates talk about marriage equality and the Rattler

Marriage Equality

Ms Dean said a full conscience vote was needed on the issue in both houses of Parliament “and not undertaking a plebiscite which would cost $160 million, divide communities and take funds away from important services such as mental healthcare and suicide prevention for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth”.

Rattler

Ms Dean said the Glen Lazarus Team fully supported getting the Rattler back on track.

“The reality will be if the government doesn’t support the proposal to get the Rattler back and running, the government will be left with a rail corridor and a number of assets from Gympie through to the Mary Valley that they will have to be maintained and or other decisions will need to be made. This is a significant attraction for Gympie, the Sunshine Coast and the Mary Valley,” she said.
